Last week, Emma, our head event planner here at Devour, was present for the culmination of several months of planning: Martin and Danielle's Tuscan-style Wedding!
Martin and Danielle are not your typical newlyweds. In their 60s when they got engaged, they met later in life. Both had been single their whole lives, focused, as Danielle puts it, 'on career paths not conducive to matrimony'.
After retirement, Martin and Danielle both decided to spend their time travelling, and met when they were each dining alone in the same restaurant in Florence, Italy. Martin asked Danielle if she'd like to join him at his table for an after-dinner drink. They soon learned they were both from the Niagara Region in Ontario, and the rest was history!
In keeping with the Italian flavour of their fateful meeting, Emma took on the task of designing and planning a Tuscan-style wedding! Danielle and Martin wanted to get married among only a small collection of family and friends – there were 30 guests in total. They booked a beautiful venue, a winery right here in Niagara, to go with their theme.
The style of the decor, and the food, was rustic and simple. Devour's chefs served Italian cheeses and meats, and then a light mushroom risotto for the entree. Bouquets of sunflowers adorned the tables, decked with white linens.
It was a beautiful wedding, and the couple was glowing. Here's to many years of happiness, Martin and Danielle! Thank you for allowing us to take part in your big day!
